WHAT ALPHA PHI MEANS TO ME:

Along with the normal angst and stress associated with starting college, I brought along the memory of my brother Dave and whether I could go to Miami without him.  I knew so many of his friends and every encounter brought back the fact Dave was gone. Then I found Alpha Phi.

Luckily for me, my mother had been an Alphi Phi at Kent State University, so I knew Alpha Phi  would at least give me a second glance.  From the first day of Rush, my sisters at Alpha Phi made me feel like I had come home.  Many of my soon-to-be sisters had been close friends with my brother and understood the struggles I was having.  I was made to feel welcome and accepted.  These women treated me with love and care, making me feel like I had come home.

Sisterhood is not just a four or five year experience - it is a lifetime experience.  Although out of college for 30 years, my sisters continue to be a part of my life today.  They continue to rejoice in the highs of my life and support in the lows.

To me, Alpha Phi is not a membership - it is a part of who I am today.
